Here’s a few more photos from the MSG show at 4th and B in San Diego when we got to see the show.  When the tour started, Robin was using our early model Hottie in red with the inside coiled wire.  When they came to San Diego, I brought Robin a fresh, new model in red with the single LED and a white one (that broke as soon as I handed it over to Robin.  “Here ya go,” “Oh, wow. Cool (click, snap, dead)”.  These are photos I took from the photo pit and are the first ever performance using the upgraded model with a single LED.  Robin didn’t turn on the light very often during the set and the stand took on all the colors as the light show washed over it, and when he did turn it on…DAMN! Talk about BRIGHT…

We met some great people at the NAMM show, but one of the major highlights was when vocalist Robin McAuley (Michael Schenker Group, Survivor) was drawn to our booth after being mesmerized by the vision of our Hottie, the Larger Than Life illuminated mic stand. With an upcoming tour to front the Michael Schenker Group and a ton of excitement for our mic stand, we arranged to send Robin out with, not only the first ever Hottie on a professional stage, but the Hottie’s first national tour, and at only three months old.

Less than 2 months after the idea’s initial spark, we pulled into the Disneyland portion of Anaheim to NAMM on the evening of set-up day as the doors were closing for exhibitors with just enough time to hoist our massive banner. The following 4 days were filled with excitement and exhaustion, but what a ride! Not only were we in an incredible spot next to the classic Coffin Case brand and seen by tens of thousands of people, but we got to watch as jaws were dropping to the floor for many of those people as they, for their first time, saw the crimson glow of our Hottie (the new name we’d given to our illuminated stand the day before the show).
One of the greatest parts, besides a bunch of orders we got, was that we made fans at the show and many of our new fans were performers we’ve been fans of for years. Celebrities from Fishbone’s Norwood to Lita Ford to Robin McAuley (Michael Schenker Group/Survivor) to members of Lady Gaga’s band were astounded by the bright ideas we were presenting.
Going to NAMM with the goal to find out if people would want to buy our ideas only to find that more types of people we could have ever considered would be buying them three at a time – all the way from kareoke hosts to major TV show producers, from churches to metal bands. Beside being our public debut, The NAMM show was also the first time a Hottie was used in a performance and it was by Great White’s Jack Russell. Highlight after highlight. Good times.

Its been about a month since the NAMM show and our last blog update, so the next few posts will be in chronological order but in retrospect.  Things have been moving very quickly. It may only be a few weeks, but there’s been a ton of news and developments.  I think I left off just before a very sexy photo session at Coffin Case…

Rolling into the NAMM show with a name like Larger Than Life, we needed to look big for our public debut. With only days until the show, Jonny Coffin arranged a photo session that we did on January 14th at Coffin Case headquarters with photographer Ernie and model Jessica. Ernie got some great looking photos, including the image that you see here (first one shown with LTL logo) that we blew up into an enormous 12 foot tall banner that was used as the backdrop for the LTL portion of the Coffin Case NAMM booth.

After a bunch of Blood, Sweat and Tears (and a few cool mash-up tracks), here’s a few of the beauties Mike’s come up with so far.  Please make comments so we can get some feedback about these.

Etched Acrylic Tube

Will was just playing around… It’s gonna make for an evil looking mic stand.

Ready to Rock

Our first batch of parts produced for the NAMM show samples.  This is 120 ft of acrylic in 3ft lengths that will be the main pieces of our lighted mic stands.  About 4 hours of sanding, if anyone’s askin’.

From here, you can’t notice how amazing the 3a prototype is with it’s bitchen’ handle, on/off switch and battery cage, but when it’s in your hands…oh, baby. Even took ‘er out for a show.  Pretty sexy on stage, huh? And you wanna talk about sexy, prototype 3b features our first use of coiled inner wire.  Tre chic.

Tito went off on Saturday and started painting up our mic stands.  Gold’s the goal, so we started with some bling.  And a few other colors we’ll be busting out

The bloody skull works nicely with our “Raining Blood” mic stand skin to create an exciting ensemble.  A little EL wire and a “Hotter Than Hell” flames mic stand skin and you’ll be cookin’ with fire.
